On May 12th, 2020 Mr. Ibrahim Muhanna received the International Association of Consulting Actuaries “IACA” Max Lander Lifetime Achievement Award, the most prestigious award given to a consulting actuary globally.
The award is given to only one person every two years by the “IACA” in recognition of a lifetime of outstanding work and contribution to the profession globally.
The past six awardees have included giants of the actuarial field, including past presidents of the Actuarial Associations: DAV in Germany, CAS in the US and the IFoA in the UK.

The International Association of Consulting Actuaries (IACA) was formed following an informal meeting of several senior consultants attending the International Congress of Actuaries in 1968 who, because the business environment for consulting actuaries was changing so rapidly
About Ibrahim Muahnna
Ibrahim Muhanna founded i.e. Muhanna & co. (Actuaries & Consultants) in 1986; Omnilife insurance company in the UK in 1988; The Muhanna Foundation in 1994; & i.e. Muhanna & co. (Rating Services) in 2000. Prior to that, he worked in the USA and Lebanon from 1976 to 1985.
He graduated from the University of Michigan (1976) with a MSc in Actuarial Mathematics. Since 1986 he has advised 52 insurers, 23 governments, and other clients in 38 countries. He has written several papers & delivered over 600 presentations on actuarial, financial awareness, social justice, municipal finance & governance issues in 54 countries.
- Since 1985 Mr. Muhanna has been a member of the International Actuarial Association (IAA) Council since 1992. He is also served as a member of the IAA Executive Committee and is actively involved in other IAA Committees & Sections. For example, he was the founding member of the IAA Health Section and served as a vice chair until 2005 and was a member of the nomination committee & currently among other positions; he is a member of the social security committee, vice-chairman of the Eurasia committee, the board of International Association of Consulting Actuaries.
- The vice-chairman of the actuarial technical commission of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
- The first Chairman of the Cyprus Actuarial Association, member of the Swiss Association of Actuaries and he is the past President of the Lebanese Association of Actuaries.
- In 2007, he was awarded “The National Order of the Cedar” by the Lebanese President. The award is in recognition of his great service & devotion to the Nation.
