A series of seminars, book signings, and a Devine Liturgy
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Collège Saint-Grégoire, a series of cultural and educational activities will be held, on Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27, 2023 at the school’s headquarters in Ashrafieh – Geitawi.
These activities will emphasize the role this institution played in helping and educating Armenian survivors of the Ottoman massacres. It will also shed light on the role of the Jesuits, the founders of this school, providing and promoting a distinguished educational and academic level from which have benefited Lebanese people in general and Armenians in particular
On Friday, at 7:00 pm, a round table will be organized on the Jesuit mission in the service of Armenian population, followed by the signing of Father Rafi Ohannesian’s book, entitled Le Père Sahak Kéchéchian, Le Consolé Consolateur.
Another book will be signed on Saturday, at 3:00 p.m., L’Exception éducative libanaise, et le lien avec la France, co-authored by Mrs. Christine Szymankiewicz, an official in the French Ministry of Education, and Reverend Charbel Batour S.J., Rector of Collège Saint-Grégoire and Collège Notre-Dame de Jamhour.
The Jubilee will be concluded with the Devine Liturgy on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 5:00 pm in the playground of Collège Saint-Grégoire – Achrafieh. It will be presided by His Beatitude Raphael Bedros XXI Minassian, Catholicos of the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate of Cilicia. The Jesuit Provincial of the Near East and Maghreb Province, Reverend Michael Zammit, and a group of priests will be concelebrating the Eucharist.
