Rebirth Beirut is excited to present ‘Other Nations: A Tribute to Predators’ by Michel Zoghzoghi.
In 1928, naturalist Henry Beston (1888 –1968) writes in his book The Outermost House: “They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.” These words have become a statement to Michel Zoghzoghi, one that demands urgent action in the face of a dramatic and deteriorating situation.
With this new chapter, “Other Nations: A Tribute to Predators”, Michel Zoghzoghi questions our relationship with the animal world and challenges the anthropomorphism that makes us see nature and predators as cruel.
The exhibition showcases the beauty of these predators, most of which are on the brink of extinction, while inviting visitors to perceive them differently. Michel Zoghzoghi portrays the predators as majestic creatures ruling their kingdoms far from the Manichean perspective of good and evil.
Since the beginning of his photographic journey, Michel Zoghzoghi chose to raise awareness by capturing the beauty of earth’s remaining wilderness. He shows us the perfect harmony and balance of nature to make us understand what is being lost. The unchecked development of modern civilizations has called everything into question. Man has become the alpha predator, but unlike other predators he doesn’t guard the balance, he threatens it.
Join Rebirth Beirut on December 7th 2023, from 6 PM to 9 PM for the opening night. The exhibition will run until December 23rd 2023 daily from 3 PM to 8 PM (closed on Sundays).
