Under a project managed by the René Moawad Foundation (RMF), Lebanese Signature promotes the “Minjara” platform that provide technical support to those working in the furniture sector in Tripoli with the aim of preserving the heritage of carpentry and the production of wooden furniture in the city to all of the world.
The “Minjara” project was established within the Private Sector Development program implemented by Expertise France (EF) and funded by the European Union. RMF has been managing the project with EF since February 2021 to support carpenters in Tripoli and to revive the furniture sector in that area. It is worth noting that the city includes many crafts and industries including wooden crafts dating back to 1850.
Many partners are collaborating on the project including the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) within the University of Balamand, the communication firm M&C Saatchi working on the branding, the market access consultancy firm Globally Cool that specializes in opening new export markets and the Abou Jaoude & Associates Law Firm initiating the Minjara registration as an independent legal body. In addition, Lebanese Signature now is in charge of promoting “Minjara” on its virtual platform.
“This initiative was pursued by the René Moawad Foundation (RMF) to support this important craft in Tripoli that was on the verge of disappearing” says Joyce Mouawad, co-founder of Lebanese Signature. She added: “This shows that when the Lebanese people unite together with one good leader who has a clear vision for the future, with different key players and professionals, Lebanon will thrive”.
As for the “LebaneseSignature.com”, co-founded by Mila Medawar and Joyce Mouawad, it is a limited liability company and a platform that aims to support the Lebanese economy by marketing Lebanese goods of all kinds, it was created to empower creative Lebanese people (residents and immigrants), recognize their talents all around the world and help them create new jobs.
