“It Gets Darker”: a first of its kind in the Arab world
This upcoming short film is a Horror-Comedy that has a deep emotional aspect and twist of the real life experiences a person could go through. “It Gets Darker” is a first of its kind in the Arab world, from a genre, narrative, and directorial point of view. The film is already making noise far and wide, with an upcoming premier in Los Angeles at the prestigious Screamfest and in Korea at the BIFAN festival. The short has already picked up awards in Japan, Canada and others.
The film stars up and coming actors Nadia Charbel, Hiba Chihane and Walid Feghali as well as the popular comedian Nour Hajjar and veteran actor Badih Abou Chakra. ‘It Gets Darker’ is produced by Last Floor Production, an Arab-founded production company, which serves the Middle East and North African region along with the global markets through its presence in London. LFP is committed to deliver the stories of Arabs wherever they might be, in order to bring a range of Arab voices into the worldwide industry of entertainment. “It gets darker” is directed and written by Firas Abou Fakher and Daniel Habib.
About the movie:
“It Gets Darker” showcases the story of a young woman who has been fighting to get over a traumatic incident: Lara has not been herself lately, a fact that everyone around mentions constantly. Little is known about the incident that led to her feeling this way, but when Vanessa, her childhood best friend, pushes her to join in a relaxing weekend in an isolated resort, Lara finally agrees. This idyllic retreat reveals its true intent when Amir arrives, Lara quickly finds out that this is nothing but a trap to silence her against speaking to the police about the incident with Amir, the cause of her recent situation. When a confrontation between Lara and Amir turns deadly, she must find her inner strength and fight her way through the night to make it out alive.
