Hala Ajam recently joined forces with Toufoula Foundation on its mission to help children suffering from cancer and blood diseases. As part of Toufoula’s social responsibility program, the NGO works on making the children’s hospital rooms vibrant and lively during their treatment.
Toufoula believes that every child deserves a childhood, and that is why the NGO has created the “Dream Rooms” initiative, partnering with artists, architects, and designers in order to revamp hospital rooms for children undergoing cancer treatment. Toufoula functions in all hospitals with an oncology ward, this time partnering with Ajam in the Geitaoui Hospital.
The room was sponsored and designed by Hala Ajam will bring much needed joy to the children who usually have to undergo treatment for long periods of time within four basic white walls in the hospital. Titled “The Pegasus Room,” Ajam’s room makes sure the child is surrounded by a joyful world of fantasy with healing qualities through creative illustrations, lighting effects in the ceiling, interactive artistic additions, and most importantly the colors of the mighty Pegasus.
The painting that adorns The Pegasus Room’s main walls soothes the viewer with light pastel tones, surreal imagery, clouds, and a magical road that lifts one up into another dimension. From a light box in the ceiling perforated with stars, to shiny golden handles on the closets, it is clear that every detail has been taken into account to surround the suffering child with a beautiful environment that will help the road to recovery.
“Every Dream Room is particularly unique. This one aims to remind the children of the simple yet beautiful things they used to do and enjoy before they started their treatment” mentioned Ajam as she described her room.
