Under the Diverting Waste by Encouraging Reuse and Recycling (DAWERR) activity funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Berytech is organizing the DAWERR “Ideathon” to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in the Solid Waste Management (SWM) sector in Lebanon.
Held online over five consecutive days, from July 28 to August 1, 2021, the Ideathon is an exciting opportunity for young entrepreneurs and startup companies to develop innovative solid waste management solutions around the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to solve real problems and challenges in rural communities. Entrepreneurs, professionals, and experts from various backgrounds will learn, experiment, and build their green solutions.
The DAWERR Ideathon will encourage and support ideas at an early stage. Participants will learn how to transform their ideas into valid business solutions through intensive online workshops, and then to pitch their proposed solutions to a panel of judges. Based on approved selection criteria, a panel will select three winners to receive grants and will benefit from a two-month incubation period with Berytech to address their technical and business needs.
The top three winners will receive business and technical assistance delivered by Berytech in addition to an in-kind grant to be spent on their startups.
