BLOM BANK Headquarters, March 6, 2019 – BLOM BANK held ‘The A List’ Competition, as part of “BLOM shabeb” program’s activities which aim to offer support and guidance to the youth; the competition spanned over three days on the 2nd,3rd and 8th of February,. As the competition concluded, five students in their first year of university were awarded scholarships worth a combined 150,000 US Dollars. The winning students are Elie El Khawand, Joseph Bejjani, Joelle Tawk, Rami Tabbouche and Theresa Farah.
Mr. Saad Azhari, Chairman and General Manager of BLOM BANK, spoke to the students on this occasion and congratulated them on the commitment they showed during the workshops and their ability to put together remarkable, convincing, and professional presentations. Mr. Azhari also complimented the students on their high level of maturity despite their young age. He concluded by wishing them a bright future filled with academic achievements.
As for the details of the competition, fifty qualified students in their first university year attended the ‘Unleash Your Talent’ workshop spanning over 2 days. Organized by BLOM shabeb, this training allowed them to acquire skills needed to prepare for their desired career and succeed in their fields through self-exploration, career orientation, and capacity building.
On the last day of the competition, on February 8th, the students presented their projects in front of a jury. Based on those presentations, five students won a university scholarship worth 30,000 US Dollars each, while 25,000 US Dollars were distributed among all 50 participants.
It is noteworthy to mention that this initiative falls under BLOM BANK’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, and namely the 4th United Nations Sustainable Development Goal themed ‘Quality Education’, that the Bank has vowed to help achieve.
