After a memorable run as the first Lebanese Pavilion at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, in 2018,”The Place That Remains” has returned to Beirut to be on show from March 5 until May 17, 2020 at Beit Beirut.
Designed by Hala Younes, the exhibition aims to provide an assessment of our territory described as the “Last Monument”. It involves a reflection on the unbuilt land, and draws horizons of hope for the future of our territory and landscapes.
The main cartographic installation proposes reflections on our geography, it chooses facts and establishes relations between what cannot be seen with only our eyes.
The works of the artists, Gregory Buchakjian, Catherine Cattaruzza, Gilbert Hage, Houda Kassatly, Ieva Saudargaite Douaihi, and Talal Khoury, address through photography and video the complex relation of the Lebanese to nature.
