Agenda Culturel 25+2 an anniversary of art and culture

On October 28th, 2021, Agenda Culturel will celebrate its 25th anniversary, with two years of delay, during an event named 25 + 2. A fun live auction in solidarity with Agenda Culturel, with a guest of honor like no other, good mood and good vibes to celebrate the vitality and creativity of the Lebanese art scene!

25 + 2 is the story of a quarter of a century like no other because it represents a collective history of cultural memories tinged with nostalgia and tenderness, while being, however, resolutely turned toward the future.

Since 1994, Agenda Culturel has accompanied two generations of readers, artists and culture lovers. The 19×19 square magazine was part of the family life, enthroned in the living room, sneaked onto the night tables or tucked into purses. It was underlined, highlighted, torn off, folded, displayed, and collected, always with tenderness and sometimes an unfailing attachment.

To celebrate the 27 years of achievement, an event will take place in Beit Beirut (Sodeco) on October 28.

Program

A live auction will take place to raise funds in order to keep Agenda Culturel’s mission alive. Ninety artworks were generously donated by Lebanese artists to Agenda Culturel.

The Artworks will be sold online on the ArtScoops platform, and then during a live auction at Beit Beirut. The ceremony will be conducted by auctioneer Edward Rising, who will be coming from London for the occasion.

The works will be displayed in our offices in Clemenceau.

The guest of honor: the Lebanese apple

The Lebanese apple is one of the treasures of our land. A Fruit that our earth offers us year after year. A fruit that was mentioned by the poets Abû Nuwâs (8th century A.D.) and Mutanabbî (10th century A.D.), but also, in distant Spain, by Ibn Khafâja (11th).

Agenda Culturel decided to dedicate its event to the Lebanese Apple as a tribute to our land and its fruits, a sign of our unfailing attachment to our land, a message that our nation is a thousand-year-old, and nothing and no one will tear it apart. It is also a way to shed some light on the difficulties that apple producers are facing due to the economic crisis.

After the auction, guests will be invited to gather on the roof of the building and taste the apple WATA Cider, the Mum’s apple chips and … eat Lebanese apples!

Launching of a new concept: NFT

Associating a century-old artist with the latest technology in Art.

For the first NFT launched in Lebanon, Agenda Culturel have teamed up with the Cheriff Tabet gallery to digitalize one of the paintings of artist Samir TABET.

Samir Tabet will be 100 years old in 2022, and we thought it would be symbolic to associate the latest technology in art with one of the works of this artist who has crossed a century. In addition, the painting chosen represents apples, the fruit of honor of the 25 + 2 event of the Agenda Culturel.

What is NFT?

A non-fungible token is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a digital ledger. NFTs can be used to represent easily-reproducible items such as photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files as unique items, and use blockchain technology to establish a verified and public proof of ownership.

About Agenda Culturel

Since 1994, Agenda Culturel is the only print and online magazine specialized in the promotion of cultural activities in Lebanon. As a reference media, Agenda Culturel is a major actor in the development of cultural life and communicates the image of an evolving society by listing the activities that animate the cultural life of the country.

Website

Newsletter

Sent weekly, the newsletter brings a selection of the week’s cultural essentials and main articles.

Guided tours

In 2014, Agenda Culturel launched its guided tours program which rapidly became very successful. These give the opportunity for Agenda Culturel readers to participate in guided visits and tours, lead by experts (often the artists and curators themselves) to art exhibitions, artists’ studios, museums, urban visits, various monuments… and all free. We have now reached the 114th guided visit.

Database

In addition to the database dedicated to cultural events, Agenda Culturel has developed both an artist and a cultural organization database. Information on more than 700 cultural organizations and 1,800 artists from different disciplines has been collected, catalogued and put online for free access, accompanied by a presentation for each. These regularly updated directories are a research tool that can be accessed by anyone, from the curious to the cultural professional, and reveal the depth of Lebanese cultural wealth.

Sectorial cultural studies

Agenda Culturel has conducted many studies on the cultural sector, including the major analysis of creative industries undertaken with the Lebanese Association for the Development of Cultural Patronage, the British Council and the AUB, and published in 2009. The most recent study was in 2015: titled ‘Le Monde Culturel Libanais à l’Horizon 2020’, it was conducted at the request of the Minister of Culture. An updated study about the state of play of the cultural life will be published in the first quarter of 2022.

Cultural week ends and trips

As soon as the circumstances allows it, Agenda Culturel will be organizing very selective cultural week ends around Lebanon and trips in the region.
