Beirut, March 12, 2014: Waterfront City held a press conference on March 12, 2014 at La Marina Club, in the presence of key partners and members of the press, to officially announce their title sponsorship of the 5th annual “Build it Green” Forum organized by e-EcoSolutions company. For the second consecutive year, Waterfront City sponsors the forum reinforcing their commitment to developing a sustainable community with high-quality standards.
The fifth annual Sustainability Solutions Conference will take place at Beirut City Centre, VOX Cinemas on March 19. It will include a panel discussion of international and local experts under the title of “Green Buildings and Beyond; Seeding Green Communities”. Of the main key note speakers is Mr. Ibrahim Al-Zu’bi, Head of Sustainability at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, who will shed light on the overall strategy of the company, as well as an overall outlook on trends worldwide.
Mr. Samer Bissat, Senior Development Director for Waterfront City commented on the occasion: “We aim at developing a project that abides by sustainability standards, creating prosperous communities and ensuring high performance assets. We believe in the future of our country and want to ensure a sustainable community for the generations to come.”
At the master plan level, the project is leading to obtain several certifications to include LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), specifically the LEED Neighborhood Development certification which integrates the principles of smart growth, new urbanism and green buildings. Additionally, the Business Park is being designed and executed in an eco-friendly environment, addressing the requirements of the LEED Silver certification level.
“Our efforts do not stop there, sustainability goes beyond building material and measures and extends to people, initiatives and communities. It is with that in mind that we established our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, “Waterfront City Cares” two years ago”, continued Bissat.
Further commenting on the occasion, Mr. Gilbert Tegho, CEO and Founder of e-EcoSolutions stated: “When we launched the first edition of Build It Green – Lebanon four years ago, reaching a “Green Buildings Era” in Lebanon was just a vision and a challenging mission to strive for. Today, and with the exceptional efforts of Green Buildings consultants, organizations and supporters, I am proud to say that Lebanon has confidently stepped into this era and is getting ready for a broader transformation, a transformation towards eco-cities. We have to recognize here the triumph of Waterfront City in setting an example to follow towards this radical transformation. The same way “Build It Green – Lebanon” seeded for Green Buildings four years ago, it is now in its fifth edition, seeding for Green Communities with the same belief and determination”.
Waterfront City Cares is a proud supporter of “The Lebanese Green Building Council”, which has partnered with “Build it Green” to launch the “Build it Green-Lebanon Architecture Competition: ECO-QUARTIER”. The competition invites designers to deliver a combination of creative, innovative, practical sustainable designs and implementation strategies towards building eco-neighborhoods and Green communities in Lebanon. The winners will be announced during the forum, on March 19th.
